All vaccinations are done at our Shawbury Medical Practice location in Shrewsbury by our doctors and trained medical professionals.

Hepatitis Vaccinations

Hepatitis A Vaccination

Hepatitis A may occur without symptoms or may result in a mild illness lasting a few weeks; however, the disease tends to become more severe with advancing age.

Vaccination is recommended for most travellers to countries where the prevalence of hepatitis A infection in the local population is considered to be high

Hepatitis B Vaccination

The Hepatitis B virus is one of the most prevalent blood-borne viruses worldwide and is a major cause of chronic liver disease and liver cancer

Hepatitis B vaccination is recommended for all travellers considered to be at risk of Hepatitis B Virus (HBV).

Hepatitis A & B Vaccination

The combined vaccination protects against both Hepatitis A and B

General Health Vaccinations

Chickenpox Vaccination

Chickenpox is a very common illness caused by the varicella-zoster virus. The chickenpox vaccine offers effective protection for patients who have not had chickenpox before.

Meningitis B Vaccination

Meningococcal Meningitis is caused by bacteria easily passed from person to person by coughing, sneezing and kissing. It can cause serious complications.

Meningitis ACWY Vaccination

Meningitis is passed from person to person who are in close contact through coughing, sneezing or kissing. The Meningitis ACWY vaccination protects you against infection from the A, C, W and Y types of Meningitis bacteria.

Pneumonia Vaccination

The Pneumonia vaccine helps protect you against serious and potentially fatal pneumococcal infections. The pneumonia vaccination is available all year round and is suitable for both adults and children.

Shingles Vaccination

Shingles is caused by the same varicella-zoster virus that causes chickenpox. It can cause fever and a rash. Unlike chickenpox, shingles can reoccur and cause repeated bouts.

Whooping Cough Vaccination

Whooping Cough is a bacterial infection of the respiratory tract that causes coughing, that in infants can come with a characteristic “whoop” as they breath in, a well as fever, sore throat and increased production of mucus.

HPV Vaccination

The Human Papilloma Virus (HPV) vaccine protects against several strains of the HPV, which can cause cervical cancer in women, anal and penile cancer in men, and genital warts in both sexes.

MMR Vaccination

MMR refers to the combined vaccination that protects again Measles, Mumps, and Rubella. Vaccinations against these three illnesses are vital as they can be easily spread between unvaccinated people and lead to serious health problems.

Polio, Diphtheria & Tetanus Vaccination

The Polio, Diphtheria, and Tetanus vaccine is commonly given as a booster called Td/IPV, recommended for teenagers and adults at risk. It protects against three serious diseases.
